Marin County Green Building Materials - Marin County, California

The Marin County Green Building Materials display provides a means for visitors to become familiar with sustainable building materials and information. The display showcases green building materials, examples of sustainably designed buildings, and information about materials specifications, features and local vendors.

The display is constructed from sustainable materials including agricultural biocomposites from sunflower and wheat, recycled particleboard, recycled glass countertop and bamboo veneer. It features twenty-five samples, that are easily updated, and used for paneling, roofing, insulation, decking, countertops, flooring, foundations and energy production. The products range from fly-ash concrete to denim insulation, palmwood flooring and recycled rubber roofing. There is also information related to sustainable topics such as passive solar design, water conservation, indoor air quality, window glazing and the Energy Star program. In Addition, The Green Spec directory is available for researching green materials and vendors.

The Green Building Materials display is stationed at the Marin County Building Permit offices of the Marin County Community Development Agency located at Civic Center building in San Rafael, and travels throughout the county to various cities' Building Permit offices, as well as to special sustainability events.
